Coverage of the Lockheed Martin and Boeing competition to secure the Pentagon's Joint Strike Fighter contract. Provides information on the designs and the performance features. Explains why the contact winner will most likely go on to produce the bulk of the US fighter fleet in the 21st century. Includes exclusive photographs.
I like this book. It shows the pictures of the prototypes before they fly. The material is light reading but has more information then some book. The airplane is still in development the fighter companion is going hard on both Lockheed Martin and Boeing. But might just end up that both will win. Its still not the high quality work not quite as good as Skunk Works or Bill Sweetmen books or Bill Gunston. But any military aviation collection would be compete with this book.
Good Technical info.

Could have used some more accurate three views, in the case of the X-35 any at all would have helped. The book, like all books from Mr. Sweetman, contained an excellent technical breakdown of the aircraft involved and the programs in place to complete them. Sweetman seems to have a nack for finding rare photos of the subjects in his books, another plus for those who use them as research materials. Overall I found it to be an excellent book full of details about a program that is still difficult to research through other sources.
