Still one of my favorites...since 1975

This is still one of my favorite books - my copy's from 1975 and is well worn. The illustrations are so creative and almost do more than the words to get the ideas across about our amazing bodies. I have 3 children myself and this is the book I plan to use to teach about some of the more delicate subjects in life. One thing that tickles me now is the illustration of a computer - so much has changed since the seventies! Excellent book!

A valuable purchase many years ago

Yesterday my 29-year old daughter went into my walk-in closet of mostly books and I asked her if she was looking for anything special. She said she was looking for a big blue book she once had and she spotted it right away -- said she didn't think to take it when she moved out because she didn't know one day she would have a young daughter (age 3 1/2) with so many questions about how the body works. This book is a gem and should be reprinted!

My son's favorite book.

I have a son named Paul. He is thirty years old. He is a voracious reader and has a degree in English. He is a writer himself. He told me last Christmas that this is his favorite book of all time. He frequently re-reads passages from it and says the illustrations are unique. They convey the information in the book in an innovative and colorful style, making it very appealing to young children of all ages. Too bad it is out of print.

So I've heard this book is out of print but I thank my lucky stars that I have a copy on my bookshelf!Reading this book is a joy because the delightful and informative illustrations help capture the child's imagination while explaining some exteremly difficult yet, imperative concepts. The explaination of these concepts was done in such a way that the child can understand the idea and does not get boggled down with too much academic language. On the other hand, the book introduces some neccessary vocabulary in a contextual way so that the child rememebers.I will never forget the lasting images I have from this book and wish I could have all of his educational books on "the ways of the world." As a third grade teacher, I have to rely on the library having the book available. It's an excellent resource for my classroom.

A high point of my childhood was recieving this book

From how babies are born to why water 'feels' wet, hot, and cold; this book has many answers to children's everlasting cry of "WHY?". Put together with illustrations to aid the youngest of readers, this books presents some of the most complex procceses of the body in a simple to understand form. Though out of print, I recommend that anyone get this book for their curious child.
