Book Overview

J rgen Moltmann formulates necessary questions about the significance of Jesus the Christ for persons today. He offers a compelling portrait of the earthly Jesus as the divine brother in our distress and suffering and points to the risen Christ as the warrant for the "future in which God will restore everything . . . and gather everything into his kingdom." Urging that acknowledgment of Christ and discipleship are two sides of the same coin, Moltmann...

A Masterful Discussion on Complex Subjects

This is one of Moltmann's works that I find very uplifting and spiritually important for me as I begin my ministry. It explains in understandable language how Jesus Christ is relevant in this modern world and how today's issues are answered with Christ. Moltmann is one of my favorite authors and his works, even though they may seen daunting at first, can be read and understood. This book is similar to his other work, "The Source of Life", in that it tries to answer and simplify complex issues of Christianity that, at times, people have difficulties with. These two books, while not as long as Moltmann's others works, go a long way toward delivering a good, inciteful answer. I have not only highlighted several parts of these books, but tabbed key areas for further review and contemplation. I would highly recommend both of these books for serious students and people embarking on ministries in any areas.

A Seminal Contribution

This little book/ booklet, which is a summation of Moltmann's larger book on Christology, is in and of itself thought provoking, and itself quite a useful classic in the field of theology. Smaller and easier in some ways to read than the larger volume upon which this book is based, one is allowed into the mind of one of the 20th century's great theologians. It is clear that Moltmann has given deep thought to the problems and issues surrounding the affirmation that Jesus is Lord and Savior, particularly in a post-Holocaust world, and this is his response; it could be used in an educated Sunday School class and provoke much thought and reflection. My copy has been well used--though I don't always agree with Moltmann, I learn quite a bit from reading him. Isn't that the point?
