Book Overview

It's an Extraordinary Life is the story of a man who not only lives as if he has cancer-he actually does. Instead of fighting his illness, Randall Broad has embraced his cancer, choosing to live with it and to let it remind you how to make life extraordinary. Rather than write about cancer, he has compiled stories about what he has learned in life and business, and he offers those to you as guides to enjoy and create extraordinary lives for yourself...

~ An Extraordinary Must-Read and Knowledge For the Soul ~

~ In this absolutely incredible book, Randall Broad's writing is a testament to strength, perseverance, and love for people. It made me put everything else on hold for a couple of hours while with a sense of amazement, I was able to see through the eyes of the author, the way to make a day worth a lifetime. ~ With a unique gift for accomplishing what he sets out to do, Randall is very blessed with an ability to create work that really pulls the reader into a place that is not expected. ~ My petty concerns over class differences or the embarrassment of speaking in front of a public gathering or wondering whether we will be able to make a profit in an ailing economy or if I can meet the next grant deadline or if my family would just pick up after themselves all screeched to a halt over the superlative charm that was written into this heartwarming hug for the world.

A MUST READ!

This book is fantastic! It will have you laughing, crying, and evaluating your own life in a way you never thought you could. I KNEW I would get something out of this book, but what I didn't realize was really HOW MUCH I would get out of it. Do the work! Answer the questions! Most importantly, be honest with yourself and your answers- it will be so worth it! I was lucky enough to meet Randy Broad at a book launch party in April and I will be forever grateful- what an amazing man he is! His outlook on life will inspire you to lead your own Extraordinary Life. Listening to him speak was an honor. I'm also lucky enough to know June Grushka-Rosen and call her my friend. Answer her questions when you read this book- it will change your life. Take the time to slow down and give yourself the gift of this book- it's EXTRAORDINARY!

"Live Each Day As If You Have Cancer" is New Book's Unforgettable Message

In March 2008, Randy Broad was diagnosed with Stage 3 Lung Cancer. After he got over the initial shock and fear this knowledge caused him, he decided that rather than fight his cancer, he would choose to live with it. That doesn't mean he didn't seek treatment, but he also accepted his cancer and decided not only that it would not stop him from living, but he would do everything he could to live an Extraordinary Life. Although the doctors predicted his life would cease long before this book was published, Randy credits his positive attitude and his efforts to make each day extraordinary with his prolonged life. But as Randy points out in the first paragraph, this book is not about cancer. It's about living "as if you have cancer." He hopes the book will make the reader appreciate life and see how extraordinary it is--a lesson he learned the hard way--but a lesson the reader can collect from these pages to change his or her life. Soon after being diagnosed with cancer, Randy asked his children what they would most like him to leave them--what could he write down for them so they would have it after he was no longer around. His daughter requested that he give her his knowledge about running a business, and his son simply wanted Randy to share stories about his life. The result is "It's an Extraordinary Life: Don't Miss It," an amalgamation of practical and astute advice about business and how to live life to its fullest. Randy asked his friend, June Grushka-Rosen, a life-coach, to assist him. June provided numerous "Mastery Questions" and follow-up sections to Randy's stories that ask readers to focus on specific situations and start their own journeys toward how to make their lives extraordinary. Between Randy's advice and examples and June's exercises, readers will find that "It's an Extraordinary Life" will also be a life-changing journey for them. This book is so rich in personal stories, from Randy's days trying to make it as an actor in Hollywood--including being a stunt-double to Jeff Daniels and learning how to earn while he slept from the residual income of making commercials--to how he partnered with Microsoft to plan extraordinary golf tournaments. He tells heart-wrenching stories about the importance of enjoying a snow day with his family, and how to look for positive aspects in less than optimal situations. The entertaining stories of different characters he met in Hollywood are alone worth the price of the book. The lessons he learned and his advice are invaluable. In addition, the book is full of wonderfully humorous yet poignant stories, and inspirational quotations. Readers should prepare to open their eyes to the magic of life--it is all around them in every moment and experience, and if we live as if we have cancer, we will come to appreciate it--let Randy Broad and June Grushka-Rosen show you how. For all the fuss that "Tuesdays with Morrie" made in the book world over a decade ago, "It's an Extraordinary Life" is as full o

Don't Miss It!

When I picked up It's an Extraordinary Life Don't Miss It I was expecting to get something out of it, I just wasn't expecting to like the book THIS much. Randall Broad is a man living with cancer. He and his coauthor, June Grushka-Rosen, wrote a book for Broad's kids about the most important lessons he has learned in his life. Well, fasten your seatbelts, "kids", `cause grass doesn't grow under this guy's feet, and this book is full of practical lessons, not platitudes, so pay attention. From one of his earliest jobs selling airplane parts, to his stint in Hollywood as an actor, to running his own successful marketing company in Seattle, this book is by someone who has lived and has no regrets. I thought I'd be digesting this book slowly, but I gobbled it up, because the author's life is so interesting and, dare I say, entertaining. He has his own distinct shoot-from- the-hip writing style and has a sense of humor -- I caught myself laughing out loud several times. He is startlingly honest and even writes a candid chapter about his first love (not many of us would tackle that subject with our children.) The author has a wealth of business knowledge and shares his most important lessons - invaluable! There is no filler in this book, only soul-stirring content. And there are questions at the end of the chapters which challenge you to examine your own life and be honest about whether you are living an extraordinary life. This is not a reverent book, and it AIN'T no Chicken Soup for the Soul. I will be reading this book again, not because it's a good book by someone with cancer, but because it's a good book, period.
