Absolutely fantastic graphic novel. I picked this and "Faith Conquers" up as I had bought Luke Cranes "Burning Empires RPG". The stories and characters in these novel are great and it really makes the rules of the game make sense. Artwork is great and the concept of man fighting off invaders who in this story try to use and overwhelming force and in "Faith" by deception and infiltration. Really good stuff.

eye-popping art and a gripping story

Shiva's War contains gorgeous artwork and a rich story full of three-dimensional characterizations. Moeller's dramatic work is a fine addition to any collection of science fiction graphic novels. Although not the first work in the series, it is fine as a stand-alone work. (After reading it, many buyers will wish to buy Faith Conquers.) The rich universe, created by Christopher Moeller, has recently been adapted into a popular roleplaying game, Burning Empires.

Good art, good story

This is the second book in the series. It collects a few of the original comics, long out of print, under one cover. Together, the pieces here represent a complete story from the longer-running Iron Empires series. This has everything I want in a good comic. The art is strong and painterly, the story makes sense and moves well, and the visual narrative is at least descriptive as the text. The book is well printed, giving Moeller's art every chance to show itself off. Maybe it's not a great comic, but greatness is rare. It's still good.As near as I can tell, these collections of the original DC comics are just coming out now, around the time I write this. I usually like the collected-comic format, because I don't have to wait a month for the story to continue. Now, though, I have to wait for the next collection! Based on what I've seen to date, the wait will be worthwhile.Moeller has done a good job here, and I look forward to seeing more of his work.
