Highly original short stories about Camelot? It's possible.

On the surface, Invitation to Camelot may seem like just another collection of short stories about King Arthur and Camelot. However, this book is well worth the price. All the stories it contains are decent, and a few sparkle as some of my favorite short stories of all time. Morgan Llywelyn's story "Their Son" is one of the most brilliant short fictions ever, and well worth the price of the book. It's ending is such a sharp twist it will leave your head spinning. Also Jane Yolen's "Meditation in a Whitethorn Tree" shows us why she is one of the most celebrated fiction writers ever. A must read for Guinevere and Merlin fans alike. The other stories featured are· The Storyteller by Jane Yolen- a nice little poem· The Minstrel's Tale by Tanith Lee· Two Bits of Embroidery by Phyllis Ann Karr- another great story. This one has Sir Kay, a personal favorite character· The Camelot Connection by Elizabeth Ann Scarborough· Uallannach by Parke Godwin· Seven from Caer Sidi by Susan Shwartz· The Vow that Binds by Gregory Frost· Nimue's Tale by Madeline E Robins· Night Mare by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro· The Palace by Moonlight by Sharan Newman· Winter Solstice, Camelot Station by John M. FordAll and all this book is recommended for anthology fans and Camelot Fans alike.

Picked it up. . . never put it down

With a list of authors like Jane Yolen, Tanith Lee, and Elizabeth Ann Scarborough, what you expect is what this book delivers. While the settings of the stories (Camelot) are the same, each story has it own unique flavor and scent. The opening poem by Jane Yolen is perfect for setting the reader up to be enveloped by some finely crafted tales about the characters we know and love (and hate!) From the reflections of Merlin, decieved and decieving, to a wierd and wacky 20th century psychologist and his girlfriend miraculously zapped into the body of Merlin, each story takes you to a place mystical, magical, frightening, or tragic. This anthology is worth every minute spent rapt in it pages.
