Into the Abyss of Suffering: A Catholic View

In the spirit of Job's questioning the dominant theological world view, this little book addresses the mystery of divine and human suffering by building on themes in the Scriptures developed through the Christian tradition. It is geared to two audiences: those who are uneasy with the emphasis on a vindictive God who demands atonement, and those who suffer and search for meaning and ways of dealing with their pain. Topics include the life and vision of Jesus, Jesus' death and its interpretation, and responding to the mystery of suffering.
