An outstanding effort

International Relations, 2008-2009 Update (8th Edition) (MyPoliSciKit Series) (Paperback)by J. Goldstein is superb and gives a first hand knowledge on the intricacies and vastness of international relations with perfect clarity. Even a lay man can feel enriched once he goes through the book. The best thing is that it is a perfect continuation and consummation on its earlier version with every facility for the reader to search out any particular topic. But I think time has come for the authors to write a separate volume on current events like the Iraqi crisis, the nuclear stand off with N. Korea, issues in Kosovo, NATO's rift with Russia, terrorism and a host of other issues. It is then that we may see many illuminating analyses hitherto not done on those issues. Very Intense and informative

The textbook "International Relations" provides an extremely indepth overview of world politics. It's interesting, but definitely not light reading. (At the moment, I'm still trying to get through chapter three.) I highly recommend it for anyone who is thinking of pursuing International Relations at the post secondary level, but would like to learn more about the actual topic first.

Good product

Very useful and clear. Good general overview for the history and theories of international relations.

International Relations

This book was excellent and it was very easy to order. It was a brand new item and after a whole semester of use still in almost brand new condition.

Great Introductory Text

This is probably the best International Relations (IR) text out there, and it is a good one too! IR is a hybrid and consequently very large field comprised of myriad sub-fields intersecting at various angles. This book makes sense of this confusion, and does so in an intellectually rigorous fashion. The book is divided into two parts: International Security and International Political Economy. The chapters in these parts introduce the reader to such concepts as power politics, international law, trade, the environment, and the North-South Gap, to name a few.It is a difficult task to sum up the entire field of IR, and Goldstein does not do this. I'm not sure it can be done. But what Goldstein does do is provide the introductory student with a solid grasp of the fundamentals of IR so that s/he can have a solid foundation from which to launch further inquiries.Highly recommended.
