I cherish this book

I have a tattered copy of this book which I found in a second hand bookstall in Bangalore many years back. I have read this book many times over and I do not lend it to anyone fearing that it may get lost! This is a book that I absolutely cherish. First of all I like the style. Is this book a travelogue? Is it a history of India or is it a book on the political economics of India? It is all of this. I **like** the confused approach since it suits the confused aura of a country like India. This book attempts an interpretation of Indian history, trying to find out a meaning in its progress. Maybe we do not agree that India is actually waiting for a Marxist revolution - but I think that is beside the point. But a suspension of disbelief would teach the reader helluva lot concering the proper way to evaluate and view this very large, mystifying and onfused country.
