The land in Northwest Indiana was largely uninhabited until the Kankakee and Wabash Rivers drained the marshes. It is now good farmland.From Greencastle to Chicagoland embracing Crawfordsville, Crown Point, Gary, Hammond, Kokomo, Lafayette, LaPorte, Logansport, Merrilville, Michigan City, Peru, Plymouth, Rockville, South Bend, Valparaiso and Whiting plus Noter Dame and Purdue Universities.
