Brown eyes? Freckles? Dimples? What you see is your face, a one-of-a-kind yet familiar body part. Your face is an important part of who you are-on the outside, it's what makes you, you. But how much do you really know about it? In Your Face: The Facts about Your Features is your guide to the human face. From explaining how your eyes, ears, mouth, and nose work to exploring how different cultures define beauty, this book reveals the many different facets of the face. Discover how facial recognition technology helps find missing people, and why you can make 10,000 different facial expressions. Meet Cecilia Burman, who has a disorder called face blindness, which prevents her from recognizing faces; and Lauren Deveney, who couldn't smile at all until she had pioneering "smile surgery." Illustrated with eye-catching, full-color photos, and written by award-winning author Donna M. Jackson, this is a fresh and fascinating tour of the face. Book jacket.
Well I might be a bit biased since my daughter Lauren is featured on pages 26-27 of this book. I can't tell you how incredible Donna was to work with. She contact us to ask if we would allow our daughter to be used in her upcoming book, IN YOUR FACE: THE FACTS ABOUT YOUR FEATURES. We were thrilled and honored. She did a wonderful job and has shown a lot of compassion in writing this book! Thank you Donna, for allowing us to be a part of it. -Sharon

In Your Face is a well-organized, easy-to-read, and comprehensive guide to the human face. The author covers everything from anatomy to rare syndromes to facial modifications/enhancements. The author gracefully includes quotes, quips, and folklore that enhance the overall presentation, which is also supplemented by thought-provoking photos. This book would be a wonderful addition to an elementary or middle school library, where it might be used to supplement classroom studies in anatomy, physiogamy, or art.
