Book Overview

A cri de coeur from one of America's most eloquent and respected naturalists on why Art does matter. In September 2001, following moments when civilization seemed to have unraveled, Frederick Turner undertook a quest for confirmation that Art does matter, that it is the preeminent human expression of the Life Force; that it is as undeniably necessary as air. In the Land of Temple Caves goes back to the very beginning of Art to assess anew its meanings...

An Extraordinary Book

The first time I read Fred's book, I loved it, but did not understand it. Now,I re-read the book every year or so, and understand more about life, human spirit, and the urge to create with every reading. It is a masterful piece of heart-breaking reality. Buy it, read it, and don't lend it to anyone - tell them to buy their own copy, or offer it to anyone in need of a boost to their spirit, or a means to re-connecting with humanity. A wonderful read, and a great book.
