In Search of Leadership: How Great Leaders Answer the Question Why Lead?

This book is very relevant in today's tough economic times. I think it's safe to say that each of has had a moment where it might have seemed easier not to step up and lead but rather let someone else take charge. It features a collection of inspirational stories from real leaders, in varying stages of personal or professional success, that share insight into why they continue to be leaders and what that turning point was for them. I loved it! I think this is one of those books that you think back to and draw from long after you've set it down.

The book does an excellent job in offering down-to-earth lessons in leadership. For that alone it is well worth reading. But I've found, over time, that it is the individual stories that have stayed with me...in a time of great pressure to continue on, one of the stories will come vividly to mind; at a time of excitement at a success, another; at a time of a major decision that has to made, yet another. Many of the people whose stories are included at here with us today--ordinary people who have done extraordinary things. Thanks to this book, their individual experiences and lessons learned seem to come to mind at the most opportune times!
