Great for Teaching and Great for You, Personally

This book has not only changed my way of looking at myself, it's changed my classroom management style and how I teach literature. This book helps us understand ourselves and our motivations for actions as well as those of others. If you're a teacher of literature, check out this book. It will help you discuss with middle and high school students what motivates character. This book is referenced in the Macbeth lesson in Differentiation in Practice: A Resource Guide for Differentiating Curriculum, Grades 9-12 and is a great complement to any lessons you might teach on characterization. It gives students a framework with which to analyze the maze of characters and character relationships while inspiring a lot of great reflective journaling and self-awareness.

I read this book when I was going through tough times with my marriage. It is a simple reading book that make you think realistically about your life. No psychbabble here just straight, to the point good read. This book would also be helpful for teenagers struggling with being happy with themselves.

Easy to follow and understand group discussion format for changing behaviors and accepting responsibility for behaviors. Worked well with middle school students and young adults.
