For a first novel I found "In Patterson" to be well written and fast paced enough to hold my attention. It visits a time in our country when gender and ethnic lines were distinctly drawn, and to that end, some readers my find some parts of the book uncomfortable. I defintely appreciated the books unpredictable ending. This book should prove excellent for book discussion groups.
