I'm in the Spotlight: A Journal of Discovery for Young Writers

I have used this book with my students for years. It works wonders in letting the children express themselves especially when they aren't quite sure how to get started. Each page provides very specific question about their lives and area to draw, paint and add photographs about their childhood. It is also interactive as parent can be involved as well. Once completed I urge my students to have their parents tuck this gem away and reveal it some years later to reminisce about days gone by. This however does not need to be used in the classroom. I urge parents to secure a copy and use it as a rainy day activity instead of planting a child in front of the TV or PC screen. It is also wonderful for those summer days when your child needs to keep up their thinking and writing skills so they can prepare for their next school year. I would recommend this for 4th-6th g
