GREAT RESOURCE AND GOOD ADDITION TO YOUR COLLECTION.

I am not a great fan of the Time Life books, but in this case they did do a very nice job. This is on volume in a three volume set. As has been pointed out, this particular work is out of print at this time, but it is well worth the effort to dig a copy up and add it to your collection. Each of the major battles of the Civil War is covered, first by a written, brief description, then full color maps. In addition there are many wonderful photographs, and more importantly, for me, pictures, drawings, prints and sketches taken from publications of that era. There is nothing really new in this or the other two volumes for the hard cord Civil War buff, but this book does give a wonderful overview of each battle, is a pleasure to read through, and does give an overall insight as to who did what to whom and when. The text is well done, neat and concise. The illustrations are all top rate as to clarity and quality. Recommend this one as a nice addition to any collection and especially recommend it for those who are interested in this terrible war and its long lasting consequences. I must say though, that the maps presented here are much better than I find published in many major works on the subject and I find myself turning to them for clarity when reading other works. All in all, recommend this one highly. Don Blankenship
This book should be in print

This title is currently out of print but, it may be able to be found on a remainder table. Each major battle and campaign has a clearly set out map along with several illustrations, both photographs and drawings. The maps are in color and the drawings are too. There is accompanying text as well as full, clear captions. I hope that another edition of this book is printed since it is a beautiful volume that is clear both as to illustrations and text.
