A Great and Concise Title From Chambers

"If You Will Ask" by Oswald Chambers, author of "My Utmost For His Highest", focuses on the power of prayer in the believer's life. The book is around 100 pages and consists of 12 chapters from 6-10 pages each and cover different aspects of prayer. Chambers' contention is that while we can and should pray for our own personal needs, we should focus on what God wants to do in and through us and to let Him live His life through us. My personal favorite chapter was entitled "After God's Silence - What?". This particular chapter suggests that when God is silent to your prayers, the main reason (assuming there is not hindering sin in your life) is because He is getting ready to bring you into a deeper and greater revelation of Himself. Since I am currently going through a similar situation, I am eagerly waiting to hear His answer in His time and way. Read and be encouraged. Highly recommended.

If You Will Ask

Oswald Chambers' writings are a real gift. All those who wish to bring their life in order with the Holy Spirit will benefit from this book, any one of his books. I cannot recommend it high enough. A must read for any Christian.

The only book on Prayer you may ever need to read!

Oswald Chambers, author of "My Utmost For His Highest" devotional, of which I've been a dedicated fan for DECADES, gently demonstrates where MOST prayers go wrong. Prayers tend to be about ME not about HIM and my RELATIONSHIP WITH HIM. We are so easily distracted in our angst and stress and concern for others and our situations, that without even realizing it, our prayers are too often "wish lists" misguided by our overwhelming, sometimes, blinding needs. Oswald Chambers directs you back to the Heart of God, to the Power of being His Kid and in relationship with Him, to coming close to hear His Heartbeat, and know that, in our deepest place of knowing, He has made provision long before we realized there was need! Therefore, we can snuggle up close in His lap and pace our breathing with His Peaceful Calm... no matter what storm rages around us! Let the concepts of this book, straight from Scripture, calm your heart and empower your prayers... I pray it will infect your thoughts and your prayers as it has mine! I'm on my third reading in less than a month, and see something newer and deeper with each read!

Understanding God's Kingdom and then staying in it.

This is a magnificent book for understanding God. It takes you further into God's ways of bringing us closer to his heart and learning how to live there forever. It tells of the wonderful power of the Holy Spirit and understanding, what we use to think before reading this book, "unanswered prayers". Beautifully written with heartfelt prayers at the end of each chapter. Great book!

An extrordinary, easy to read, wonderful commentary

"If You Will Ask", by Oswald Chambers, is a wonderful book! In the very first chapter, Mr Chambers explains HOW we should pray. He says,"very evidently, our ideas about prayer and Jesus Christ's [ideas], are not the same. Prayer to Him is not a way to get things from God, but so that we may get to know God. He goes on to say that "our Lord never once referred to unanswered prayer; God always answers prayer, if we pray in the name of Jesus. Furthermore, he writes that it's not so true that {prayer changes Things} as that prayer changes Us and then We change things. We're not to ask God to do what He created us to do. When we pray, Things remain the same, but We begin to be different. He explains that, "the good of praying is that it gets us to know god and enables God to perform His order through us. Just reading it "lifts you up". It's a wonderful book, what a great feeling to know that every time we pray, we are getting that much closer to God. It is a small book, but it's 95 pages are full of the author's wisdom, and the power of God in his life. It's a wonderful book!!! I recommend it to everyone who wants to know more about prayer.
