If My Dad Were a Dog

I loved this fanciful book. The big, blocky primitive drawings in primary colors are a perfect frame for the amusing cut-out photos of a chocolate lab dog. The speaker imagines a day with a dog, from feeding him to walking in the park and having to pick up his poo. There seems to be a sentiment that the child would like his father to be biddable, to stick around and play and relax, rather than being busy or gone. Or it could be just a fun fantasy. The print and vocabulary is suitable for beginning readers. This is a book a young child could drop a hint to his father with by asking him to read it over and over again.

Ever wanted to be the boss of your dad? Well I bet if he were a dog that wish could come true. In this picture book a kid thinks of all the commands that they could bark out, if only their dad were a dog! The real photos of the lab dogs were great!
