When I came across this book at work I couldn't help but read it. While it may be hard for some to read, for me it was a healing experience. MANY children face this very situation in their lives and this book tells it like it is. When the mom tells the kids that their daddy behaves the way he does because "He doesn't know them" it was a revelation. There are many children that need to be reminded that the "missing" parents actions are not in response to something they have done. While this book is not for everyone it does have its place and would be very helpful to those who work with children in this situation. This is a great tool for opening up a conversation with a child that has faced this situation, so that healing can start. While the truth does hurt (and possibly offends others) it is still the truth and needs to be addressed. I wish I had been given this book when I was a child.
