It's just not as thorough as I had hoped. I was looking more for a book that helps identify the raw stones before they become gems.

This is my first gem book and I bought Cally Hall's larger version of this pocket book. Has over 130 gemstones and fabulous photos. Only thing missing is a value chart to show how each gem would rate as far as worth, value in terms of $$. I'd recommend this book to any beginner or teacher wanting to have an easy-to-use resource manual.
