My first chapter book

I read this book when I was little and loved it! It was my first chapter book and I contribute my love of reading to this book. I was a little younger then the girl in the book (who was 10 years old) but I could relate to her dreams and fears. I also envied her for spending the summer with her grandmother and aunt and the relationship that they shared. I bought this book for my 9 year old who is scared to learn to ride a bike. I'm hoping that not only will she develop a passion for reading but that she will understand that she is not alone in her fears. Maybe with the help of this book she will learn to ride a bike! I completely recommend it to all those young girls out there! And parents can know that their child is reading a good, quality book that is safe and not filled with inappropriate material that so many of todays books force on young minds.

good book for preteens

This book is great because it teaches the importance of unconditional love for others and yourself. The main character is ten and still cannot ride a bike and feels like a failure. I think realistic books such as this one can teach kids that we all have our abilities and disabilities and that were are supposed to love each other based on who we are, not on what we can or cannot do. I reommend teachers and librarians buy this book for kids ages 8-11.

I Would If I could

This is one of my all time favorite books. In this book, Patty goes to stay with her grandmother and aunt for the summer. While there, she recieves a bike for her birthday. But, Patty just can't learn how to ride it, no matter how hard she tries. And to make matters worse, it's the ugliest bike, she's ever seen. And worse yet, her best-friends have started a club, but she can't join it unless she learns how to ride her bike. Will Patty conquer her fear of bicyles?
