Great book. Read it for the first time in high school. Could never find another copy until I discovered this site. Touching story. A great book for teenagers-especially those teens who are thinking about getting pregnant at a young age.
A case for an all-girls school - preferably in a convent

We had to read this in Catholic High School because it somehow warned us against the perils of teenage parenthood. A few things to note - the more things change the more they stay the same. Mariel Hemingway pulls off the struggles of a 15 year old in a very adult situation. Her character's own former single mother now remarried and wild as ever ... is no help at all quite possibly set up the situation. Nonetheless ... looking for love at such a young age, when still a child, is an express route for often disasterous results.
