An entertaining run through the music of the seventies.

Despite the title of "pop music", it covers a tremendous range of styles many of which never made the charts. The authors parody everything from the ex-Beatles and the Stones, to punk, disco, funk, heavy-metal, singer-songwriters, etc. Like the great Beatles parody, "The Rutles", the more trivia you know the funnier it is (The writers did their homework). The humor is similar to the Rutles jokes as well as reminding me of Dave Barry's writing. The chapters usually begin with humorous comments on whatever subject and soon slip into cornball puns about the songs or musicians. Not a work of great literary importance, but I laughed aloud at least once a chapter while reading it on my lunch hour. Recommended for anyone who's brainpan has been clogged (like mine) with too much useless seventies music trivia.
