Like a Japanese master using few words, the author calls characters to life as unique real people whom we come to know, people both different from ourselves and just like ourselves. The stories move from laugh-aloud humor to irony and touching poignancy, often leaving a lingering aftertaste. There is MUCH more here than the battle of the sexes: there is subtle sensitivity to the longings and loves as well as the pain and hurts between generations. Some of the stories, e.g., "Dreamers of Dreams," stand as literary masterpieces. Impressed by the variety, I was touched by the depth and have shared the work with friends. You will be pleased to have read the book.
Fine writing by an observer of contemporary American life.

Mr. Greenside has a way with words that leaves the reader thinking, "By jove, he's got it!" These are real people with real problems. They may not be trying to solve the war in Bosnia, but they are trying to solve their own wars--of the heart and mind and spirit. A very worthwhile read.
