I Quit, but I forgot to tell you

Stop trying to figure out what your employees need....read the book. It is all there. Be open to seeing what exists in your department and start working on making the employees say, "I am here and glad to be here"! Its real simple.

Important Ideas Made Accessible

At least one reviewer panned this book as obvious and simplistic. That's unfortunate. The book is short and it's format greatly simplified, with lots of bullets and lists, and this may give the incorrect impression of superficiality. But Kabachnick has chosen the approach intentionally, as a wise coach or teacher should, since the issues are so important and plain speaking and clarity about them critical to success in work and life. Kabachnick's book is based on extensive research, including work by Gallup, and its often intuitive (but as often counter-cultural) ideas and techniques are foundational to the successful transformation of ordinary organizations into extraordinary ones. Her book reads quickly, but this should be an excuse to re-read it, to absorb its important lessons and bring them into your work. The unfortunate truth is that most organizations get the management of people wrong, with enormous consequences for clients, employees, investors, and all the rest of us who are touched by these organizations and people (which is to say, all of us). If you will use these straightforward techniques in your organization, profound changes are possible in how you work and what you accomplish. Highly recommended for busy line, executive, and HR leaders who want teams that are engaged, creative, thoughtful, turned on, and high performing.

Excellent Book

I thought this book was amazing. Excellent stories to match the content and in depth ways of identifying disengagement for your both yourself and your team. I highly recommended it if your team is struggle with engagement.

A must-read for every manager

This book directly addresses an extremely relevant issue - employee engagement. I purchased additional copies and am taking all my managers through this book. The author identifies warning signs when employees are becoming disengaged and provides insight in how to make adjustments or when to release them to find their next opportunity. Effectively detecting and correcting employee related issues are so critical to successful companies, and this book does a great job of outlining the factors in a very concise way. There is no fluff - it gets right to the point and won't waste your time.
