I Love This Bar

Wonderful plot, great characters, and wish you could be a part of them yourself! Will make you laugh, cry, and sigh. I'm so happy that I chose this book, and I've also ordered the next three in this series and can't wait to continue on.

The book starts out simply enough with Jarod McElroy walking into the local and only Honky Tonk in the area to get a drink and if truth be told to get away from his cantankerous uncle. Little does Jarod know that one accident with the owner of the place will turn his life upside and all in a good way. The Honky Tonk is owned and operated by one Daisy O'Dell and she has a take no prisoner attitude when it comes to her business and the men in her life, if there was a man in her life that is. From the moment she bumped into Jarod she went all a fluster, but not being one to simper and act all girly like Daisy resorts to the golden rule set down by Mable, the woman who took in Daisy when she needed someone to lean on, and keeps Jarod at a save distance, but with friends, customers and underhanded people like those in her life she did not stand a chance. Jarod just want to get his job done, which is helping his uncle get his place up to date and out of the dark ages. He has no time for a woman in his life, more over he has no luck with woman - he has had three failures so far to prove it. Despite this he has not given up on finding that one person for him and he is liking the looks of one Ms Daisy alot. With Daisy not playing ball and Jarod trapped out on the farm with his uncle Emmitt a few people just have to take matters into their own hands and set the wheels of this romance in motion. With a set of triplet who seems to have no life of their own, a sneaking underhanded best friend and an old man who is more here than there Daisy and Jarod did not know what hit them. If you are looking for a book that just hits the spot and pops all the right button I LOVE THIS BAR is the book to read. I would be nitpicking if I said there was anything of worth that I didn't like about this book. The characters were all over the place and they somehow worked in the Honky Tonk setting. Daisy is my kinda girl, no lily liver, simpering miss of a girl was this woman, she was something else. Confident in her abilities, assertive in her position as a bar owner and a vet and she only feared giving her heart to the wrong man - did I forget to mention that she knows how to use the

I LOVE THIS BAR by Carolyn Brown is a delightful Romance set in modern day rural Texas. It is well written with depth and detail. It has charm, character, humor, romance, sweet sensuality, and rural charm. The characters are charming, and witty. The hero is handsome, charming, hard working, cares for his family and friends. The heroine is charming, cute, gutsy, hard working and cares for her friends and family. When the two meet sparks fly although they don't want them too.The secondary characters are just as charming and help carry the story along. This is a delightful romantic story of love, caring for your family and neighbors. A must read. I would highly recommend this book especially if you enjoy romance, humor, rural charm and gutsy characters. Great little romance - I looooved this book. I didn't think I was going to like it, but once I started, I couldn't put it down. Can't wait for the next one in the series.

Daisy O'Dell is the bar owner of Honky Tonk. She has been running the place for seven years, ever since the last owner Ruby died and left the place to Daisy. Jarod McElroy moved down to Texas to care for his Uncle Emmett and help him with his ranch. When Jarod walked into the Honky Tonk, he was just looking for a place to hang out for a while. He did not realize the woman of his dreams would fall into his lap. Daisy literally falls for Jarod. Now all Jarod can think about is Daisy and finding a way to make her his. I Love This Bar is the second book I have read by Mrs. Brown. Toby Keith is a favorite country singer of mine, so it was nice to see Mrs. Brown's latest novel titled after one of his songs. I just can't get enough of her Cowboy books. This book will make you kick up your heels and holler for more! Daisy and Jarod make the perfect couple. She was the girl form the other side of the tracks, who fell for the guy with a heart of gold. Daisy surprised me with some of the other talents she possessed. Jarod's Uncle Jeremiah was a hoot, especially when he thought Jarod and Daisy were married. This book will have you laughing from start to finish. I Love This Bar and so will you.

Or at least read I Love This Bar. You'll be glad you did. I have to admit from the start that I love the books of Carolyn Brown. Her characters pop from the pages and make you feel like you're right there with them. Her scenes are rich with detail as well. The stories are memorable and when you're done, you feel like you're losing close friends. I Love This Bar is one of her best works. Daisy is a heroine for the modern woman. She's fiercely independent and in a way afraid that if she's with a man, she'll lose her individuality. But, Ms. Brown writes her in such a fashion that you don't feel sorry for her. In fact, you want to see her get past the ghosts in her closet (so to speak), and find what makes her happy, besides the bar. She came across a little terse at times, but it helped endear her to me. Jarod is a complex hero. He wants Daisy from the moment he spots her and is determined to get his way. But he goes about it in such a methodical way that you can't help but love him. Plus, he's sexy, which makes it easier to fall under his spell. The supporting characters in this story add to complexity and humor of the tale. Emmett is full of beans and bluster, but he's a good guy at heart. Who doesn't know that one older person who insists on sticking his or her nose in all the time? I think he was my favorite character. If you want a book to stick with you long after the last page, then you need to read I Love This Bar. I can't wait for the next story in the series.
