I Have Life: Alison's Journey

I met Alison and heard her story a few years ago. I purchased her book at that time. I read her astonishing story and was inspired by the book. As I do with most of my books, I donated it so that someone else could learn about her. I recently spoke to a friend about Alison. She, too, was interested in Alison's story, so I repurchased the book for her. How Alison could "have life" is almost beyond comprehension. What an inspiration she is -- both in life and in print. Well worth the read.

What an amazing attitude Alison has about her experience. She accepts what happened to her and is now an inspirational speaker. Alison was raped, her throat cut and was stabbed a number of times in her abdomen and left to die in the middle of nowhere. Courageously, she managed to crawl to a main road, holding her head up with one hand (because her throat was cut), and holding her intestines in place with the other hand. Her intestines were covered in dirt and leaf matter. A passer-by stopped to give her assistance, and get her to a hospital. The book documents her journey to recovery, and her life now as a public speaker. An amazing book by an amazing lady. Do yourself a favour and buy this book. You, too, will be inspired.

A well-written recollection of a true life experience which is life changing for both the persona and the readers all in one. As the story unfolds of the horrific journey Alison has to make to recovery, the reader becomes immersed in the realities of dealing with such trauma. The strength of character and will power of such a brave individual is subtly magnified by the kindness of her very soul. True to herself and the world, Alison allows the intruders of her future to be placed at arm's length as she unravels the memories of the dreadful night to the world. Today, Alison is a hero not only for enduring such an ordeal but for the lessons she has learnt through forgiveness and the ability to move on with life. So much can be learnt from this book.

This book is both brilliant and horrifying. It makes you wonder and admire how strong the human body can be when the human mind and spirit is strong willed and determined.This is an eye opener in to some of the violence in world, but also the courage of individuals to overcome the violence and fear.

What a brillant and motivating book. It is amazing what the human mind and body can do if put under such terrible trauma. Alison shows pure determination to survive. She shares the most phenominal story of her trauma and explains what the power of positive thinking can do. this is a must read.
