Humboldt

Clever and very entertaining with a great sense of humor. If you have ever been to Humboldt or Arcata you have to read this book, if you haven't been there, then read this book and you won't have to. I highly recommend it.

I went to school at Humboldt State University and Ms White's book really portrays the Arcata lifestyle I experienced when I lived there. It was funny yet had a hint of mystery and the characters were a lot of fun. This is a great read and I highly recommend it. Thanks Kim

For those who have ever had the misfortune to fall prey to screwball assignments dreamed up by editors desperate for copy at a newspaper struggling to stay in business (re: 90 percent of modern day publications), ``Humboldt'' will not only ring true but gives the truly bitter a chance to laugh at what vexes them. It's a fun, smart and fast read that is sure to entertain even those not trapped in the dregs of journalism. And it might help explain the business to outsiders who find themselves scratching their heads at the hair-brained things they see in their daily newspapers and on TV.

This novel perfectly captures the Arcata vibe. If you know what I'm talking about -- if you've ever been to Humboldt County -- you pretty much have to read this book. Either way, you'll love "Humboldt" for its great characters, head-shaking plot and dry humor. At least, that's what I love about it. Few people are truly funny in writing; White definitely has a gift.
