CHURCH GROWTH PASTOR DEVELOPS STRONG RATIONALE FOR SMALL CHURCHES
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 15 years ago
Pastor Moore reads his Bible and learns that small churches planted all over do the Will of God. This well written book teaches us all that planting churches grows christianity and develops close knit Christian Comminity. I sang in the choir in a mega-church called Saddleback and discovered it was like driving on a freeway. We all wanted to go to the same place, there were lots of us, but we seldom communicated. On the other hand, a small church in Oregon helped me learn a lot, and I developed life long friendships that still function 20 years later. At the mega-church, I shook hands with the pastor once. In a small church, I spent an hour with the Pastor once a week. Moore writes an easy-to-understand book. His idea of planting churches is well reasoned and comes mostly from Scripture. "Mostly" because he also writes from experience. His HOPE chapel has helped start more than 200 churches all over. While I didn't see it mentioned, a poor economy is often a way of sending lots of good people into the field of ministry---for which Moore's book is indispensable. Don Paul, author/publisher [...]
The Big Picture
Published by Thriftbooks.com User , 15 years ago
Our state, like so many others, finds itself in a huge conundrum over the future of our public school system. The overall ratings are some of the lowest in the nation, naturally the morale is right there on the bottom also, yet there are so many good people that give their lives to the education of our children. Everyone has an opinion as to what we could do to fix the problem, but the bottom line is "If the Lord is not in the building of the house, the builders labor in vain". I am reminded that if we Christians are not in the mix...it is all in vain. Ralph Moore's book gives you not only biblical reasons as to why we are called to do what the first disciples did, but he also arms you with tons of practical steps and "how to's" to just go and do it! I really appreciate how he touched on so many scenarios, breaking through even the "modern day" mind set of what starting a ministry should look like. Even for us seasoned church planters, apostles, mentors...just when you think you have all the bases covered, Moore pulls another inspired idea out of his hat that makes multiplying your church even more achievable. Easy, interesting, read...if you care about the lost, you must read this book.
