Laughing your way to mental health

I first read this book many years ago. It made me crack up then and still brings a smile. I often recommend it to my clients as a humorous way to get their self-defeating thinking under control and into perspective.

Tears of Joy!!!

I read this book decades ago and recently realized that I didn't have it in my personal library anymore. My mistake. This book is a great pick-me up and has one laughing out loud over and over again. I loved it! Must purchase a new copy.

Hilarious

This book is hysterical. It describes the self-destructive behaviors we all engage in, and presents them as things we should do if our our INTENT is to be miserable. Very funny, and quite perceptive.

How to Not Make Yourself Miserable

This book changed my life. Dump behaviors that punish people for liking you!

That guy who wrote the negative review of this book is on CRACK

How to make yourself miserable for the rest of the century is hillarious self satire that makes you laugh out loud and realize the myriad of ways in which we undermine ourselves. This book DEFINITELY does not take itself too seriously (i.e., it is NOT a self help book in any literal sense) and is amusingly thorough in the detailed instructions it provides on how to be miserable. For instance, in the section on how to make yourself miserable in romatic relationships, there is a whole section on "basic relationship undermining manuevers" such as "The Great Love Test", designed to elicit, from your companion (after several detailed steps) a hint of doubt about your relationship that can be seized upon to make yourself miserable. Oh, man...and then there is the "reject me posture" recommended for social gatherings. Though there are some corny parts, this book on the whole is a howler--indeed, I have found that my my most depressive friends find it the funniest : )
