How to Find Lost Objects

I've ordered a total of 5 copies of this book over the years. The first copy was lost by the post office as they were attempting to deliver it to me. I waited and waited for weeks but it never showed up. After complaining to the postman he said he did remember the package but he'd lost it between the sorting office and my house. He thinks he left it on the bus. The second time I ordered a copy, the postman did attempt to deliver it but the package would not fit into my postbox, so he left a card. But I lost the card on the way to the collection depot to pick up the package so I ordered another copy. This one I did get but after reading chapter one on the way to work I fell asleep and remembered, as the bus pulled away after rushing off before I missed my stop, that the book was on the floor of the bus under the seat. I ordered another copy for my elderly father, I had lost my mother last year, through no fault of my own and since she'd died of a famous terminal disease I don't blame the book for that. He loves the book and never looses anything anymore, except his mind, very slowly. I await the fifth copy with trepidation.

Since reading this book I have been more successful, and more quickly successful, at finding things I've misplaced. I don't know where "Professor Solomon" got his ideas on this subject, but somehow they are very helpful.Of course I still have piles of paper, CDs and computer equipment from which almost nothing can be retrieved, but that is a problem in a somewhat different realm.Maybe Solomon, with his inherited wisdom, will eventually write something to help me stop accumulating rubbish which I "might need some day."

When I first heard of "How to find lost objects" its author was being featured on Michael Feldman's "Whaddaya Know?" on NPR. He sold me, as a person who frequently misplaces commonly used objects. Professor Solomon's book is amazingly functional as well as funny. If it's possible I actually enjoy the finding process rather than dread it when I need to search for lost objects, thanks to his methods. They may sound corny but they actually work. Because of the successful track record I've had with this resource I chuckle whenever I must place the post-it on my mirror reading "it's not lost-- you are". The 3 "C"s make sense: Comfort, Calmness, Confidence. How many times have we searched in a panic only to undermine our own efforts? The humor doesn't merely help relax the finder, it focuses. This book is in my top 5 most consulted. It's paid for itself many times over.

This book is great for people like me, who spend an excessive amount of time looking for things we've misplaced. The principles for finding lost objects really work, and are presented in an amusing way via stories, photos and delightful cartoons. I recommend this book to anyone who's ever just put something down, and been unable to find it again. Also, a great gift for anyone who loses or misplaces things on a regular basis (I suspect there are lots of people like that).

This book is a strange juxtaposition of the practical and the wacky. There are common sense lists and rules (for example The Eureka Zone)along with some clever tongue-in-cheek stuff. It's a great gift idea for people like my friends who are always losing things.
