This work is half autobiography of Betty Talmadge and half pork cookbook. The script sort of jumps around from parties Betty had to her recipes to her ham business. Still, it's all interesting and, while I would not label Talmadge a feminist, she surely was a woman who knew how to put together and run a profitable business back when this was strictly a man's domain. There are also some recipes "related" to pork and to the south that are quite excellent. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in cooking or, to folks who have an interest in women in business. A fun read.

This is a wonderful cookbook for those who were raised in the South. It is full of wonderful recipes for things that you remember eating at Grandma's house! Interesting short articles and pictures of Mrs.Talmadge's life also, but the recipes are superb!
