I am considering buying my first home soon and I found this book to be very helpful. The first few chapters help you figure out if you are the type of person who could live in a condo or co-op. Then the middle chapters include helpful worksheets to calculate how much you can afford to spend on your condo and tips on financing options. The remaining chapters discuss finding a property that is right for you and includes a good list of questions you can ask real estate agents and sellers. One the best features of the book is that Denise Evans (the author) has included website resources to help you get a accurate numbers to fill into the worksheets. Finally, Ms. Evans is a lawyer and she has included important tips on what to say and what not to say when talking to listing agents to make sure that you don't get yourself into trouble. I am nervous that I will buy a condo that is too expensive and I won't be able to "really" afford it or that I will buy a condo that is smaller and costs less, only to realize that I could have afforded something bigger. I think that this book will help me figure out what is right for me.
