How to Become Famous in Two Weeks or Less

Whenever I read a music/fashion/teen magazine, I feel so uncool I'm like "Who are these people?" (and I work in entertainment.) There is a formula to becoming a celebrity nowadays. The only downside to that is, the more celebrities, the harder you have to work to maintain your status. It's a battlefield people, buy this book if you feel the need to claw your way to the top!De La Cruz and Robinovitz have written a book that is so DEAD ON, it's hilarious. They talk like best girlfriends about how exhausting it is say "yes" to everything to chase and maintain fame, then how once you acheive the fame, you have to decline 99% of invites so you seem busy because "people want what they can't have." So true (just look at how well luxury items by Vuitton and Dior do when released in limited numbers). How funny to read that the people we see in photos hugged up next to each other at a bash might not even know each other (that's probably the work of a good publicist who said "Hurry, go take a photo with celebrity X, it will lift your status!)Even if you're not trying to be famous, their "Cliff's Notes" style summaries at the end of each section can be applied to many situations. For example - how to get into parties you're not invited to, how to tip appropriately, how to be remembered, how to market yourself (hey, this is a skill you need to get a job nowadays!)I enjoyed the book, laughed out loud at the light-hearted dissing of the celebrities who refused to write their book introduction and loved the tone of the book - like two good girlfriends filling you in on a wild experience they shared.

I love this book! I don't know how I stumbled on it, but now it's practically my bible! These women have a great writing style - very conversational, but not at all shallow.The book is a great "How to work it" guide. Basically it's how to work your looks, your job, your presonality, your friends, anything you have at your disposal in order to have a more fabulous life.Now mind you I say "how to work" not "how to use" - no, no! They are sure to remind you that it's important to act fabulously to everyone, pass out your cards to even the most insignificant people, tip your hairdressers well, and be mindful of cattyness.They also make a point to tell you about the mishaps and ugliness that come with fame - embarrassing moments, career missteps, all of which one must take in stride. It's all about image and spin - if you become victim to a terribly embarrassing situation the best thing to do is hold your head even higher and really convince everyone "I meant to do that!"This is a great guide to life, and a great window into what the life of famous people really are like.

I bought this book like less than a week ago and I was laughing histerically for hours...I've devoured it quickly and it's certainly THE funniest book I've ever bought, loaded with irony and sarcasm, it's truly helpful to become a phony celebrity or simply the most popular kid in town and believe me...I'm takin' notes and seeing results!! Of course fame is nothing if you got nothing to show with it but like that song from Chicago OST says "Long as you keep 'em way off balanceHow can they spot you got no talents?" So anyways...if you wanna know how to become a celebrity/socialite and have the time and money to try to do it...go ahead and have fun! and if you just wanna have lots of laugh and a serious good time...just buy the book and prepare to laugh your ass off.Anyways, Melissa and Karen if you guys are reading this...YOU GO GURLS!!

i read this book in one sitting, laughing hysterically out loud and eagerly scoping out the pictures inside. those who criticize the book take themselves way too seriously and obviously just don't get it. this book was carefully written by two talented witty women who have a sense of irony, are willing to share and expose themselves to the public and should be applauded. the book is witty, self-deprecating, touching and downright hee-larious. we all secretly wish we were famous but hallelujah, these girls scream it out loud. for those who truly believe they will be the next britney after putting this book down, need to stop reading immediately and GET A LIFE! where is your sense of humor?
