Worth the price...

When I tell most people I'm single, not dating, and don't have any kids, a look of surprise (and sometimes horror) crosses their faces. Just as the author described, I was even embarrassed about standing in line to purchase a book with this title. The funny thing is, as I read it, I felt like the author was talking to me. Since I relocated to a new city for career reasons, I've allowed myself to hide away in my house and sadly I've mastered how to do everything alone. Needless to say, many of the tips she provided in this book seemed like they were written just for me. I go out with a man once and say..."nah...not my type." I've even allowed myself to believe that when the time is right that some man will suddenly appear (like magic) and we'll run off like some sort of fairy tale. This book helped me put some things into perspective. Nothing--not even a relationship--falls into your lap. Most things take time and work. I am especially thankful for tips like the three date rule and the eight date rule (read the book). I plan on applying many of the things she suggested right away. Yes, I've read Why Men Love Bitches, The Rules, and all the other self-help relationship books, but I really enjoyed how the author appeared to be talking to me. Sometimes when I would read something and roll my eyes as if to say I'm not doing that, in the very next paragraph she'd catch me off guard with "Fine, if you think it's stupid, then don't do it, but..." Her logic, subtle humor, and examples have really motivated me to get back out there and try again. Again, I've read the other books and this is the only one that has actually really motivated me. Can't wait to see what happens.

Great Guidebook!

This book is optomistic. It all is very good information! It's the creme of the crop. It saved my relationship overnight! It encourages! It's meant to be done with a support buddy. There are exercises for each principle. Way good book! I wasn't really looking for a book like this, but the part on commitment is right on. 180 degree change. :) Buy it for that! It's so true that people are reluctant to admit they want a relationship. A relative of mine picked it up, and she loves it! No one knew she was looking for a relationship! Pick it up for yourself if you're single or anyone single you know! It can change your life. Follow-up: I thought it saved my relationship to this looser. I liked this book for like a week, but its effects weren't long-lasting. I would recommend "Why Men Won't Commit" instead. By the way, I'm now happily married to someone else! I would change the stars to a 2 for an entertaining read, but that's the extent.

A must read for those who wants a fulfilling relationship.

The book was written in daily languages while many of it's advices are practical and useful. The chapter about"Commitment" is particularly useful for women who gradually get impatient and doubtful about their partner's attitude. It's worth reading. I couldn't put it down until I finished it.

Terrific and Insightfull!!!

I thought the author did a good job of getting to the point of why people are single who really don't want to be. I particularly liked when she dispelled the myth that most people don't find their mate "when they are looking for one", and gave instructions on how to get into situations to find that special someone. Overall the book had a very common sense approch. What she suggests for us single people to do is things I either needed a refresher course in, or just plain never thought about. Highly recomended reading.

Excellent, Practical Book

Short, concise, to-the-point book, for those of us who need a coach to encourage us, get us off our butts, and help us to go out and find someone meaningful in our lives.Very practical, with useful exercises, and good information on how to evaluate potential partners, and not screen other people out too quickly.Highly recommended for those of use creating a conscious, purposeful partnership.
