How Loud Is a Lion?

My 15 month old daughter LOVES this book. She now roars everywhere we go. She says 'roar' and 'shh!' on cue. The pictures are beautiful and even I learned about new animals reading this book.

No matter that the ending isn't a surprise to my 3 year old, she loves the suspense of this book...just waiting to hear how loud the lion is. The quilt-like illustrations make the story even more fun. We both love this book!

This is a wonderful interactive book for children. It is colorfully illustrated with animals which appeal to children. It was received in excellent condition and in a timely manner.

This has always proved to be a favorite of my audiences. As a reader for the Denver Public Library and the Children's Museum of Denver, I incorporate this book into my public readings at least once a season. The text begs to be read aloud and builds to a wonderful crescendo. The repetitive text helps me elicit the participation of curious children, who I often find mimic my gestures as I read "How loud is a lion? Shhh! Listen!" I highly encourage parents everywhere to add this to your son or daughter's personal library. The photos of Ms. Beaton's wonderful felt, sequin, bead, and braid compositions are stunning. Do not forget to reexamine the book after an initial reading to look for the lion hidden amidst the other pages.

Creative fabric collage style applique and fun animal imagery - this book is brilliant, and a great favorite in our house. waving lion parts creep onto every page and not until the denouement when the lion springs full bodied onto the page do we get to see all of that stalking beastie. The kids will love searching for the elusive ear, tail or paw, and all the animals are clearly figured enough that one can play the counting game - in a very creative way. I've read this book to three 3yr olds at once and challenged each of them to count something on the page, like - Bala count the Hippo's, Chris find all the birds, and George how many monkeys are there. Enjoyable to read, with very simple descriptions of the animals "elephants are enormous, zebra's are stripy..." and the pictures look very soft and delightful. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have the original of this book! It is just the sort of pictures one wants to Feel! Being fabric, and then beaded etc. Great, ages 1-5 kotori [email protected]
