Hot Hippo

This book was given to me by my mother-in-law who used to read it to my husband when he was a small child. I have never had so much fun with a book while reading it to kids. "AHA!" They love to read it with you. It warms your heart and creates some unforgettable memories as you learn why children's version of why the hippo lives in water. I highly suggest to every parent with a boy or girl. It's wonderful.

This book, with its vivid and whimsical watercolors and delightful tone, is a fun and rewarding read-aloud book to share with any child. Hippo's gentle and happy personality captures small children's attention, while the all-powerful Ngai -- "god of Everything and Everywhere -- gives them a delicious shiver up their spine. I have read this book aloud for children uncountable times and have yet to see it fail to please. It should be back in print! So, if you can get your hands on a copy, enjoy.

Mwenye Hadithi writes wonderful animal fables. Hippo is amongst his sweetest. I wish the book was still in hardcover! Makes an excellent read-aloud, and the watercolor illustrations are a great complement.
