Hot Flashes

Although the characters in this book are a little older than me, I was in my late forties in the late nineties, I can identify with the issues they talk about. I have a college degree and got married young and could never juggle all the pieces of my life the way I thought I was supposed to. This book makes me realize I wa snot alone.

This is a beautifully written to the heart and 'real'book. About 'us' women - strong of the heart, the mind and our bodies. We are survivors - we are mothers, sisters, grandmothers. We are beautiful in whatever shape, form and colour. I came away in tears when I read this book, a bit of sadness, happiness and inner strength - a powerful combination.

I could go on forever about how great this book is. Raskin is by turns witty, sincere, sarcastic, and cynical. The characters' lives and problems are very real, and they confront their problems (and each other) in ways that most women will find familiar. I actually first read this in college; young enough to be the daughter of any of the main characters. Nevertheless, I identified with them and their struggles. A must read for you and all your girlfriends.
