I've owned this oversized paperback, about the history of dinosaur movies, for many years...perhaps a dozen years or more. In that period, I have read it through at least 3 or 4 times. It is a fun survey of most dinosaur-oriented theatrical features that have been released in theatres (along with a brief look at their close cousins: giant monster movies). The text has some flaws in its construction. Perhaps this has been remedied with more recent editions than mine. Reading my copy, one gets the feeling the individual chapters were once stand-alone articles which were later hastily thrown together to form a book. I say this because the time progression through the history of these films is not exactly linear. Also, some chapters rehash and repeat basic information the book had already discussed in earlier chapters. There are also some typos, and at least one place where most of a paragraph is repeated twice in succession (obviously a word-processing error...but didn't anyone proof-read the galleys one last time before it went to press?). If you can look past these flaws, there is a lot of good information here. The author is enthusiastic about his subject and the writing is engaging. There are also lots of great black and white stills from all these great sci-fi films. Cautiously recommended for fans of the genre.
