I love this book

This is probably my favorite crochet book. I don't own a lot of them, but when trying to teach my daughter who was age 12 to crochet, there was a little difficulty in her remembering what to do next with some things. This book has a lot of great pictures for guidance along with the instructions for anyone beginning to learn. She also loves the book and is able to understand the instructions. Great book. Update: It has been over a year since I have had this book now. We have made almost 3/4 of the projects in it. There are quite a few projects for teenagers, including smaller pojects that give the option of many colors to keep it more exciting and helping them to look forward to competion, thus building their confidence for bigger things. Many projects for gifts too! Everyone that I have taught to crochet, this is one I recommend for the home library.

Nice book, buy the paperback version

I like this book and am currently pre-viewing it from a crochet book club. They want $30 for the spiral bound hardback version. I really like the patterns, but was torn on coughing up the $30, since I see myself only making a handful of the patterns. I really like the tops, sweaters, wraps, and handbags; very cute and modern...though I will not be making the token doilies, baby booties, or holiday doo-dad decorations. If the margins are big enough, I will probably pay my local copy shop $5 to cut off the binding, and spiral bind it for me. Love that I found it here for less than 1/2 the price!

for those who hate sewing things in

Have you ever made a granny square afghan and had to sew the darned thing together? Probably you have if you're reading this review. You know how much of a pain in the neck it can be to sew and sew and sew, especially if you decided to be nutty and made all _tiny_ granny squares to sew together. This book has patterns that do not need to be sewn together. You can use your crochet hook to finish it up. No more "pincher aches" in the thumb and forefinger from sewing. No more trying to weave in the gazillion loose ends. The designs are good for beginners as well as intermediate crocheters. They are clear and concise. The sizing (surprise!) is good for the Boticelli women among us. You don't have to feed your family beans for the rest of their lives to buy the yarn for the projects, so that's great. Plus most of the yarn is easily available if you live near a good sized city. I would recommend this book highly for anyone who wants to complete various 1 part projects.

Nice clothing patterns...too many afghans

Books that give you sections from clothing to holiday projects usually do better in some areas than others and that is my feeling here. The best I felt were in the womens clothing. It's nice to see stylish items that are sized to XL (44-46"). The yarns used are all easily found and reasonably priced and complete info is given so even a beginner could sub in something else. The instructions are clear and pics are great. A few nice items in the thread section like the 56" tablecloth and an infants heirloom bonnet & booties set. The rest is the usual afghans, throws, potholders, holiday doo-dads..... I gave 4 stars because I know I'll make good use of clothing patterns.

Interesting..nice colours

This book has some nice things in there. Things for women, children/teens, home decor..when read the other woman I have to agree, the font for the book is a lighter type though I did not notice when I was making the leg warmers, I went back and the font is light for the directions but everything else is dark. That said it will have a beginner and a novice ready with the their yarn and hook ready
