An honest, personal account of a change in lifestyle

I loved this book 25+ years ago. I may still have a copy tucked away somewhere. Ms. Crawford's style of writing presents her own experiences in a casual yet elegant manner. Her introduction to living in the country is charming. Really her motives and goals were inspirational, especially considering she wrote the book in the 70s. She choose to life an authentic, low-impact life, providing enough to get by on. She has a sense of humor and includes several amusing anecdotes and observations. Just the thought that you could, that you can, live a more natural and connected life outside of the rat race and life in a cube farm is bracing. You can escape to a more real life. Life is worth much more than gold. I would *still* like to find myself living the life she did. Really an inspirational and useful guide as well as being an entertaining, fun read. A wonderful book, one of my all-time favorites on several levels at once. Buy it, keep it, love it.
