A Hardcover Treasure

I have been using a softcover edition of this Bible at my office since I purchased it in the study of Dr Robert Webber when he was teaching me a course in Graduate School. The curriculum was in Worship Studies, so this was truly Webber's 'baby.' Since then the book has gone out of print. So, I paid more for this hardcover than I have for any other Bible. It's worth the money. I'm reading a couple of chapters each morning as I read my way through the Bible in 2 years (or a little less). The NLT is a good reading translation. I especially like how we read that when Jesus hung on the cross and the sky darkened, it was from 12:00 Noon until 3:00 PM; rather than the sixth to ninth hour. I'm looking forward to continuing my daily Bible reading with this study Bible.

praise is what i do!

Great investment tool.. the bible is excellent for any levite who wants a closer and more pwersonal understanding of worship and what it means to be intimate with Christ

An inspiring resource...

Over the past several years, I have read through several different Bibles, including study Bibles, chronological Bibles, and those with various resources in them. I really like the Praise and Worship Study Bible. I don't think I would call it a "study" Bible, however. If you buy it thinking that it will have lots of study notes, verse by verse, you may be disappointed. Instead, you'll find many wonderful resources... texts of hymns and worship songs, biographies of Biblical characters that focus on their approach to worship, prayers, and worship notes. There are two things I like best, though: 1) an explanation of worship symbols, something I've never seen in another Bible, and 2) the New Living Translation. This translation really brings scripture to life for me. Read Isaiah 53 and Romans 8 for two beautiful examples of this. There's no concordance, so you might not want it as your primary Bible, but it is a wonderful supplement, especially if you want to learn more about worship.

Excellent resource for studying worship biblically.

The Praise and Worship Study Bible, translated in the New Living Translation, is designed to help you study the scriptures from a worship and praise perspective. It features different characteristics of God that helps us focus our praise and worship on these characteristics. It highlights special verses and passages that emphasize praise and worship and, in my opinion, the most useful tool is that it offers worship profiles on the biblical characters throughout the bible. Each book has an introduction which looks at the worship theme of the book and the inspired message God was giving to His people. It is a great study bible for anyone interested in biblical worship as it highlights every verse in the Bible that deals with worship and it gives additional helps through a commentary format. An excellent resource for your library as a worship leader.
