Presents step-by-step instructions for creating sweaters, scarves, throws, bags, hats, pillows, and gloves. This description may be from another edition of this product.
I love this book because the designs are simple and allow the new fabulous yarn to shine. You don't have to knit very complicated patterns to make very stylish garments and this is one of the best books I have seen to make this statement. I have also ordered some of her yarn and it is wonderful.
Beginner Perfect! Great Instructions and Beautiful Designs

As a newbie knitter in my twenties, this is my favourite book. The projects are simple, the photos are gorgeous, and I can see returning to this book for years to come because I love the designs so much. The step-by-step instructions are great and I wish more books were written this way. (I can't stand knitting by antiquated abbreviations.)I did have a couple of problems. There are a lot of misprints in the book. If you buy the book, be sure to visit www.sussdesign.com to get the list of corrections before you begin any of the projects. I also wish she included instructions on how to crochet the pieces together, since this is a finishing technique used often throughout the book.Overall, a book I would readily recommend to other beginning knitters. Well worth the price.
great eye for design

I loved this book the moment i saw it at the store. I'm new to knitting and I dont think the designs are too easy, in fact I love how everything is a variation on simple shapes. It suits the type of knitter I am: someone who has little time and patience for complicated patterns but still wants something that looks elegant and chic. I love the fact that none of the patterns contain cables or fair isle designs as they complicated and look too "busy". If I would never buy something why spend time and money to make it. I care about the end result just as much as the process. I love how suss uses the yarn as inspiration to create something because that is what attracts me to knitting: the yarns. my favorite designs are the ones for baby stuff and the hand bags as well as the ski cap and nubby scarf and hat. I dont necessarily agree that knitting them in the round is better but that is just me, in fact all of her designs use only a range of 4 needle sizes so you dont need to go buy a million different types of needles such as circular and double pointedok some nitpicks now: even though I would never use her instructions on learning to knit, i found it odd that she didnt include instructions to cast off. The gorgeous blanket doesn't specify how to keep 125 cast on stitches on a standared size needle. (perhaps a suggestion on how long the needle should be?). and of course the sizing of the sweaters.otherwise a great book for inspiration on designing your own stuff. also great coffee table book because of the celebs and pictures and good source of funky boutique style patterns

a variety of simple projects for beginner knitters with clear instructions. considering the knitting instruction books out there, this is by far one that has more modern designs and simplicity in details. i was initially humoured by the name dropping and stories, but once i got past that, it was refreshing to pick up my needles and pick a project to knit. the patterns are easy adn fun to follow. it would have been helpful if the author had gone one step further to explain the finishing touches , like how to crotchet, bind off and picking up stitches...this book works well as an happy and fun addition to your knitting library... i'm convinced.

What a treat, A simple easy to follow book with beautiful photography throughout. If you're an experienced knitter these quick non-challenging patterns will be a breeze. minimalist at its best. Beginners will be eager to try the more advanced patterns without hesitation. The book is nicely written. I suggest other knitting books for new knitters who want the basics on how to knit, S. Cousins is a continental knitter and her instructions in the beginning show it.
