Hey, Didi Darling

This is a GREAT pre-teen novel that entertains without condescending (a tough job for this age group!). It's great reading for adults too, actually, although it's certainly a fast read. It's funny and snappy and the characters are so much fun and so easy to feel for at the same time. I'm not sure there are many girls that age who are quite that witty, but if they're out there, they'll love this book. Because it's entertaining for any age over 8, I recommend it for a read-aloud between parent and child. I can't stress enough how much more of a great experience it is if the adult enjoys the book as well. I think Harry Potter proved that point beyond doubt for most of us. Great writing, great characters, really funny. I highly recommend it.
