A very enjoyable read

I loved this book. Lily was a perfect heroine - beautiful, witty, charming, a bit stubborn and with a sense of humor. Derek was nice too, although I didn't like his constant appearings with one or other merry widow. And even though the back cover sais that he is a master of Eastern arts of pleasure, it doesn't show anywhere in the book;) What I like about Gaelen Foley's books is that you can really see that the main characters are getting to know and love each other - there is a stronger connection between them than just passion.
Derek is more than a pretty face...

Gosh, Gaelen Foley sure creates some fantastic heros. Derek lives up to this high bar. The heroine, Lily, grows from a somewhat self absorbed and housing obsessed individual to a brave young lady willing to risk it all for someone she loves. Also, I liked the way the story is told. Unless you've read her prior novel, you get to know the characters as they get to know each other. This is different from many novels which build the characters for the reader but have them learn about each other later. This often leaves me wondering why the characters fall in love. Here, there is no guessing. Sigh.
Still one of the very few...

authors that can hold my attention through a 400 page book. From past experiences, I'm careful NOT to read reviews from other people. I find that you can't please everyone and each person's taste is different. Fortunately for me Gaelen's and my taste is one and the same. I loved this book as with all of her other books. Loretta Chase is another author I eagerly look forward to reading all the time. If you are reading this review and others and still not sure. Gaelen Foley is still the Queen

Gaelen Foley is easily the Queen to Regency Romance vacated by the untimely death of Kathleen Woodiwiss earlier this year. Her last book, which was highly anticipated, was not as exciting as it should have been. But, this book, was grand. It is as good as Alec or Devlin's book. Derek Knight was definitely in the Alec Knight Mode of Alpha/kind-hearted, strong, warrior males. And, Lily. I really liked the strong, intelligent, kind-hearted persona of Lily. Their chemistry was hot and sweet. Their love scenes were worth every wait. They finally completed FULL consummation at the perfect time. The villains were three-dimensional and the plot was fast moving and exciting. A great book. I cannot wait for Gabriel's book in March, 2008.
