Book Overview

Book one in the bestselling Christian fiction series that has captivated millions of readers around the world A New York Times, USA Today, and Publisher's Weekly bestseller. "Her Mother's Hope has all the meaty elements of a blockbuster." ―Denver Post The first in a two-book family saga by the beloved author of Redeeming Love and The Masterpiece, Her Mother's Hope is a rich, moving epic about faith and dreams, heartache and disappointment, and the legacy of love passed down through four generations in one family. Near the turn of the twentieth century, fiery Marta Schneider leaves Switzerland for a better life, determined to fulfill her mother's hope. Her formative journey takes her through Europe and eventually to Canada, where she meets handsome Niclas Waltert. But nothing has prepared her for the sacrifices she must make for marriage and motherhood as she travels to the Canadian wilderness and then to the dusty Central Valley of California to raise her family. Marta's hope is to give her children a better life, but experience has taught her that only the strong survive. Her tough love is often misunderstood, especially by her oldest daughter, Hildemara Rose, who craves her mother's acceptance. Amid the drama of World War II, Hildie falls in love and begins a family of her own. But unexpected and tragic events force mother and daughter to face their own shortcomings and the ever-widening chasm that threatens to separate them forever.Perfect for fans of Christian historical fiction that realistically depicts the complexities of the human experience, with all its imperfectionsAn impactful, emotional journey that explores family relationshipsBook 1 in the Marta's Legacy duology"Emotionally rich. . . . Yes!! One of her best!!

This touches the Heart!! I could so relate to this Mother/Daughter relationship! Sad that communication was so different then than today! Mama kept her true feelings deep down inside. If she was able to tell her daughter all she had been through during her childhood maybe their relationship could have been different!! Life can leave pain so deep you become fearful it will happen to your children. I also think the time...

Touches the Heart of Mother/Daughter Relationships

In Her Mother's Hope, Francine Rivers presents a story that transcends time lines and border lines, reaching to the very core of the mother/daughter relationship. At 483 pages, Her Mother's Hope is not a short read, but for me, it was a quick one. I found myself hesitant to put the book down, even when I knew I had to. One of the things I appreciate most about Rivers' writing is the elegant simplicity of her prose. Not once...

Francine Rivers has done it again!

I couldn't put this book down and am now anxiously awaiting the sequel. I have read and enjoyed all of her books so my expectations were high when I heard she had written another book. I was not disappointed. She is my favorite author, her characters are real, they are not perfect. You don't always like them but they are true to themselves. I highly recommend this book, you won't be disappointed.

A Must Read!

I believe that this book is one of Francine Rivers' best. As always, her characters are captivating, drawing the reader close. This book is in particular about family--how important it is and the repercussions of what poor decisions are. I am definitely waiting for the sequel! :)
