Face her ten-year reunion as a lowly traffic manager? No way. Izzy Gordon is going to realize her dream of becoming a filmmaker. Her documentary about an old Wisconsin lodge and its gangster history is sure to be a winner. And she's got an ace up her sleeve, since her family owns the land. Too bad this film drops her into a brewing feud. Seems her family wants to sell the property and the lodge owners are fighting to stay open. They've drafted Gib Murphy--globe-trotting photojournalist and prodigal grandson--to stack their hand. Wow. Could this get worse? Apparently it could, because she's developing a thing for Gib...one he's returning. So at what point does her bluff get called and she has to confess her real identity?

This novel tells the story of a young woman -- Izzy -- who is being pushed into a marriage with a man who seems perfect but is far from it -- he is quite controlling. Unfortunately, Izzy is rather passive, and goes along with whatever Andrew wants because it seems easiest. The story begins with Izzy receiving a letter she had written to herself 10 years ago, as a senior in high school. Her 10 year reunion is approaching and Izzy is forced to realize her life is nothing like what she wanted, then or now. She wanted to be a film-maker, so room-mate Shelly convinces her to enter a documentary film short contest-- at least she'll be able to go to her reunion with her ambitions partially fulfilled. They decide she'll make a film about the gangsters from Prohibition who vacationed at the resort located on her family's property. The property is on a 100 year lease and about to revert to her family, forcing the resort owners out of business. When Izzy and Shelly arrive at the Wisconsin resort, they overhear the owners complaining about Izzy's family, and making slighting remarks about this woman -- clearly a family member -- about to arrive. Shelly registers them, with Izzy not using her last name, and they cancel their original reservation. So -- Izzy is staying at this resort, and needless to say, there's chemistry between her and a man (Gib) who is part of the family who own the resort. Will the resort be saved? Will Izzy be saved from marriage that will force her down a path she doesn't want? Will Gib and Izzy overcome their problems that could keep them apart? This book was humorous, well plotted, moved quickly, and had likeable characters. If you enjoy romances, I think you'll enjoy this.
