Hemlock Bay

This is very interesting and fast moving story. I really love this book. I slow down right about now, because I hate for it to end. 10/28 -- Just finished the book. Savich & Sherlock are the best. You will not believe the ending! I never saw it coming.

Admittedly, I'm a Coulter Fan and this book in the FBI series adds still another layer to the continuing saga of Sherlock & Savich. The whole cast of characters comes alive in this story of Savich's sister. And, of course, justice prevails. This was the only one of the FBI series that I hadn't read - because I couldn't find it. And in retrospect, by missing it I missed part of the layering of stories. A good excuse to re-read the stories. There is just the right amount of tension, humor and romance to entertain anyone who likes to read.

I have really enjoyed the the FBI thrillers. Dillon Savich and Sherlock have been through a lot together and it keeps getting better.

Despite the negative criticism from the others, I found this book very interesting. Catherine Coulter is a great storyteller and she did a great job with Hemlock Bay.

The other reviews tell you all you need to know about the plot. Here's why I liked it. The author is a leading writer in two genres, the other being romance. I found the plot (actually, plots as there are two, a primary and secondary) interesting. I found the character development outstanding. I tend to like books where the characters evolve in their relationship to each other and their careers (Faye Kellerman's Decker/Lazarus series, JA Jance's two detective series, Sandford's Davenport, any of the WEB Griffin series and many others). Here, Coulter has taken her two main characters, Savich and Sherlock and added a layer to their complexity. She has used her romance skills to bring out the beginnings of a romance between other characters in the book; perhaps we'll see them again, perhaps not.I'm looking forward to her next work.By the way, if you liked this book but would have preferred a stronger dose of romance, try Julie Garwood's Heartbreaker. I'm not usually a Romance fan, but my wife started playing it in the car one afternoon and I got hooked.

In Lily, Catherine Coulter has given the reader one tough cookie of a heroine, who has enough backbone to withstand even the most deadly situations thrown her way. And, as in Ms. Coulter's previous works, Savich and Sherlock are perfect as secondary characters, FBI agents with both guts and class. A MUST READ!
