This is a rather concise and useful book if you are trying to find just what movies were made based from Ernest Hemingway stories at least up till circa 1981. It is leisurely written, contains some significant information and tries to stay subjective on just how well Hemingway transfers from the written word to the big screen. In most cases it is a matter of interpreting, re-writing, altering and combining his stories before producers would even consider making films from his works. I found this book informative considering that several of these films have lately made their way to DVD with commentaries and extra features for titles such as HEMINGWAY'S ADVENTURES OF A YOUNG MAN and THE SUN ALSO RISES. This book is a very good supplement to these features adding different perspectives and interpretations on just how these films came into being. If you are truly interested in this cinematic aspect of Hemingway's stories I highly recommend this book.
